1 ^d“You shall not spread a false report. You shall not join hands with a wicked man to be a ^emalicious witness. 2 You shall not fall in with the many to do evil, nor shall you bear witness in a lawsuit, siding with the many, so as to pervert justice, 3 ^fnor shall you be partial to a poor man in his lawsuit.

4 ^g“If you meet your enemy’s ox or his donkey going astray, you shall bring it back to him. 5 If you see the donkey of one who hates you lying down under its burden, you shall refrain from leaving him with it; you shall rescue it with him.

6 ^h“You shall not pervert the justice due to your poor in his lawsuit. 7 ^dKeep far from a false charge, and ⁱdo not kill the innocent and righteous, for ^jI will not acquit the wicked. 8 ^kAnd you shall take no bribe, for a bribe blinds the clear-sighted and subverts the cause of those who are in the right.

9 ^l“You shall not oppress a sojourner. You know the heart of a sojourner, for you were sojourners in the land of Egypt.

10 ^m“For six years you shall sow your land and gather in its yield, 11 but the seventh year you shall let it rest and lie fallow, that the poor of your people may eat; and what they leave the beasts of the field may eat. You shall do likewise with your vineyard, and with your olive orchard.

12 ⁿ“Six days you shall do your work, but on the seventh day you shall rest; that your ox and your donkey may have rest, and the son of your servant woman, and the alien, may be refreshed.

13 ^o“Pay attention to all that I have said to you, and make no mention of the names of other gods, nor let it be heard on your lips.

14 ^p“Three times in the year you shall keep a feast to me. 15 ^qYou shall keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread. As I commanded you, you shall eat unleavened bread for seven days at the appointed time in the month of ^rAbib, for in it you came out of Egypt. ^sNone shall appear before me empty-handed. 16 You shall keep ^tthe Feast of Harvest, of the firstfruits of your labor, of what you sow in the field. You shall keep the ^uFeast of Ingathering at the end of the year, when you gather in from the field the fruit of your labor. 17 ^pThree times in the year shall all your males appear before the Lord God.

18 ^v“You shall not offer the blood of my sacrifice with anything leavened, or let the fat of my feast remain until the morning.

19 “The best of the ^wfirstfruits of your ground you shall bring into the house of the Lord your God.

^x“You shall not boil a young goat in its mother’s milk.

20 ^y“Behold, I send an angel before you to guard you on the way and to bring you to the place that I have prepared. 21 Pay careful attention to him and obey his voice; ^zdo not rebel against him, ^afor he will not pardon your transgression, for my name is in him.

22 “But if you carefully obey his voice and do all that I say, then ^bI will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to your adversaries.

23 ^y“When my angel goes before you and brings you ^cto the Amorites and the Hittites and the Perizzites and the Canaanites, the Hivites and the Jebusites, and I blot them out, 24 you shall ^dnot bow down to their gods nor serve them, ^enor do as they do, but ^fyou shall utterly overthrow them and break their ^gpillars in pieces. 25 You ^hshall serve the Lord your God, and ⁱhe¹ will bless your bread and your water, and ^jI will take sickness away from among you. 26 ^kNone shall miscarry or be barren in your land; I will fulfill the ^lnumber of your days. 27 I will send ^mmy terror before you and will throw into ⁿconfusion all the people against whom you shall come, and I will make all your enemies turn their backs to you. 28 And ^oI will send hornets² before you, which shall drive out the Hivites, the Canaanites, and the Hittites from before you. 29 ^pI will not drive them out from before you in one year, lest the land become desolate and the wild beasts multiply against you. 30 Little by little I will drive them out from before you, until you have increased and possess the land. 31 ^qAnd I will set your border from the Red Sea to the Sea of the Philistines, and from the wilderness to the Euphrates,³ for ^rI will give the inhabitants of the land into your hand, and you shall drive them out before you. 32 ^sYou shall make no covenant with them and their gods. 33 They shall not dwell in your land, lest they make you sin against me; for if you serve their gods, ^tit will surely be a snare to you.”

1 Then he said to Moses, “Come up to the Lord, you and Aaron, ^uNadab, and Abihu, and ^vseventy of the elders of Israel, and worship from afar. 2 Moses ^walone shall come near to the Lord, but the others shall not come near, and the people shall not come up with him.”

3 Moses came and told the people all the words of the Lord and ^xall the rules.¹ And all the people answered with one voice and said, ^y“All the words that the Lord has spoken we will do.” 4 And ^zMoses wrote down all the words of the Lord. He rose early in the morning and built an altar at the foot of the mountain, and twelve ^apillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel. 5 And he sent young men of the people of Israel, who offered burnt offerings and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen to the Lord. 6 And ^bMoses took half of the blood and put it in basins, and half of the blood he threw against the altar. 7 Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read it in the hearing of the people. And they said, ^x“All that the Lord has spoken we will do, and we will be obedient.” 8 ^cAnd Moses took the blood and threw it on the people and said, “Behold the blood of the covenant that the Lord has made with you in accordance with all these words.”

9 Then Moses and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and ^dseventy of the elders of Israel ^ewent up, 10 and they ^fsaw the God of Israel. There was under his feet as it were a pavement of ^gsapphire stone, like the very heaven for clearness. 11 And he did not lay his hand on the chief men of the people of Israel; they beheld God, and ^hate and drank.

12 The Lord said to Moses, ⁱ“Come up to me on the mountain and wait there, that I may give you the ^jtablets of stone, with the law and the commandment, which I have written for their instruction.” 13 So Moses rose with his assistant ^kJoshua, and Moses went up ^linto the mountain of God. 14 And he said to the elders, “Wait here for us until we return to you. And behold, Aaron and ^mHur are with you. Whoever has a dispute, let him go to them.”

15 Then Moses went up on the mountain, and ⁿthe cloud covered the mountain. 16 ^oThe glory of the Lord dwelt on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days. And on the seventh day he called to Moses out of the midst of the cloud. 17 Now the appearance of the glory of the Lord was like a ^pdevouring fire on the top of the mountain in the sight of the people of Israel. 18 Moses entered the cloud and went up on the mountain. And Moses ^qwas on the mountain forty days and forty nights.

1 Moses assembled all the congregation of the people of Israel and said to them, ^b“These are the things that the Lord has commanded you to do. 2 ^cSix days work shall be done, but on the seventh day you shall have a Sabbath of solemn rest, holy to the Lord. Whoever does any work on it shall be put to death. 3 ^dYou shall kindle no fire in all your dwelling places on the Sabbath day.”

4 Moses said to all the congregation of the people of Israel, “This is the thing that the Lord has commanded. 5 ^eTake from among you a contribution to the Lord. ^fWhoever is of a generous heart, let him bring the Lord’s contribution: gold, silver, and bronze; 6 blue and purple and scarlet yarns and fine twined linen; goats’ hair, 7 tanned rams’ skins, and goatskins;¹ acacia wood, 8 oil for the light, spices for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense, 9 and onyx stones and stones for setting, for the ephod and for the breastpiece.

10 “Let ^gevery skillful craftsman among you come and make all that the Lord has commanded: 11 ^hthe tabernacle, its tent and its covering, its hooks and its frames, its bars, its pillars, and its bases; 12 ⁱthe ark with its poles, the mercy seat, and the ^jveil of the screen; 13 ^kthe table with its poles and all its utensils, and the ^lbread of the Presence; 14 ^mthe lampstand also for the light, with its utensils and its lamps, and the ⁿoil for the light; 15 ^oand the altar of incense, with its poles, ^pand the anointing oil and the ^qfragrant incense, and ^rthe screen for the door, at the door of the tabernacle; 16 ^sthe altar of burnt offering, with its grating of bronze, its poles, and all its utensils, the ^tbasin and its stand; 17 ^uthe hangings of the court, its pillars and its bases, and the screen for the gate of the court; 18 ^vthe pegs of the tabernacle and the pegs of the court, and their ^wcords; 19 the ^xfinely worked garments for ministering² in the Holy Place, the holy garments for Aaron the priest, and the garments of his sons, for their service as priests.”

20 Then all the congregation of the people of Israel departed from the presence of Moses. 21 And they came, ^yeveryone whose heart stirred him, and everyone whose spirit moved him, ^zand brought the Lord’s contribution to be used for the tent of meeting, and for all its service, and for the holy garments. 22 So they came, both men and women. All who were of a willing heart brought brooches and earrings and signet rings and armlets, all sorts of gold objects, every man dedicating an offering of gold to the Lord. 23 And ^aevery one who possessed ^bblue or purple or scarlet yarns or fine linen or goats’ hair or tanned rams’ skins or goatskins brought them. 24 ^cEveryone who could make a contribution of silver or bronze brought it as the Lord’s contribution. And every one who possessed acacia wood of any use in the work brought it. 25 And every ^dskillful woman spun with her hands, and they all brought what they had spun in blue and purple and scarlet yarns and fine twined linen. 26 All the women ^ywhose hearts stirred them to use their skill spun the goats’ hair. 27 And the ^eleaders brought onyx stones and stones to be set, for the ephod and for the breastpiece, 28 and spices and oil for the light, and for the anointing oil, and for the fragrant incense. 29 ^fAll the men and women, the people of Israel, whose heart moved them to bring anything for the work that the Lord had commanded by Moses to be done brought it as a freewill offering to the Lord.

30 ^gThen Moses said to the people of Israel, “See, the Lord has called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah; 31 and he has filled him with the Spirit of God, with ^hskill, with intelligence, with knowledge, and with all craftsmanship, 32 to devise artistic designs, to work in gold and silver and bronze, 33 in cutting stones for setting, and in carving wood, for work in every skilled craft. 34 And he has inspired him to teach, both him and Oholiab the son of Ahisamach of the tribe of Dan. 35 He has ^hfilled them with skill to do every sort of work done by an engraver or by a designer or by an embroiderer in blue and purple and scarlet yarns and fine twined linen, or by a weaver—by any sort of workman or skilled designer.
