Features

How do I copy & paste the Bible text?

To copy and paste, simply use your cursor to select the verses you would like to copy. Once you have selected the verse, a pop-up window should appear. Clock "Copy Verse" from the pop-up window. Now, use your computer’s standard copy keyboard shortcut to copy the selected verses to your clipboard. Use your computer’s standard paste keyboard shortcut to paste the selected verses into a document, email, etc.

To adjust your copy/paste settings, click on the three dots in the upper left-hand corner at the top of the page. Select the "Text Settings" button at the top of the settings menu. Click the checkbox next to the elements that you want included in the copied text.

Why are certain verses not included in the ESV text?

The translators of the ESV decided not to include a very small number of verses that can be found in some older translations. These translations have included passages that the majority of English translations (including the ESV) do not consider original. These texts are not included in the ESV because, in the judgment of the ESV translators, the most reliable Greek manuscripts did not include them. Learn more about the ESV translation philosophy.

Can I download the ESV audio?

ESV.org only allows users to stream the ESV audio via their web browser. If you would like to download a complete audio reading of the ESV, you will need to purchase the audio files here.

How do I adjust my account settings?

Account preferences and other settings can be adjusted by clicking on the three dots in the upper left-hand corner of the page. From here you can change text settings and layout options.
