7  Behold, it is the litter¹⁰ of Solomon!

Around it are ^fsixty ^gmighty men,

some of the mighty men of Israel,

8  all of them wearing swords

and expert in war,

each with his ^hsword at his thigh,

against ⁱterror by night.

9  King Solomon made himself a carriage¹¹

from the wood of Lebanon.

10  He made its posts of silver,

its back of gold, its seat of purple;

its interior was inlaid with love

by ^jthe daughters of Jerusalem.

11  Go out, O ^kdaughters of Zion,

and look upon King Solomon,

with the crown with which his mother crowned him

on ^lthe day of his wedding,

on the day of the gladness of his heart.

^obehind your veil.

^pYour hair is like a flock of goats

Your ^ucheeks are like halves of a pomegranate

4  Your ^vneck is like the tower of David,

built in ^wrows of stone;¹²

on it ^xhang a thousand shields,

all of ^ythem shields of warriors.

5  Your ^ztwo breasts are like two ^afawns,

twins of a gazelle,

that ^bgraze among the lilies.

6  ^cUntil the day breathes

and the shadows flee,

I will go away to the mountain of ^dmyrrh

and the hill of ^dfrankincense.

7  ^eYou are altogether beautiful, my love;

there is no ^fflaw in you.

8  ^gCome with me from ^hLebanon, my ⁱbride;

come with me from ^hLebanon.

Depart¹³ from the peak of Amana,

from the peak of ^jSenir and ^kHermon,

from the dens of lions,

from the mountains of leopards.

9  You have captivated my heart, my ^lsister, my bride;

you have captivated my heart with one glance of your eyes,

with one ^mjewel of your necklace.

10  How beautiful is your love, my ^lsister, my bride!

How much ⁿbetter is your love than wine,

and ^othe fragrance of your oils than any spice!

^qhoney and milk are under your tongue;

a spring locked, ^sa fountain ^tsealed.

13  Your shoots are ^uan orchard of pomegranates

with all ^vchoicest fruits,

^whenna with ^xnard,

14  nard and saffron, ^ycalamus and ^ycinnamon,

with all trees of ^zfrankincense,

^amyrrh and ^baloes,

with all ^ychoice spices—

15  a garden fountain, a well of ^cliving water,

and flowing streams from ^hLebanon.

16  Awake, O north wind,

and come, O south wind!

Blow upon my ^dgarden,

let its spices flow.

^eLet my beloved come to his ^fgarden,

and eat its ^vchoicest fruits.

1  O God, ^zthe nations have come into your ^ainheritance;

they have defiled your ^bholy temple;

they have ^claid Jerusalem in ruins.

2  They have given ^dthe bodies of your servants

to the birds of the heavens for food,

the flesh of your ^efaithful to ^fthe beasts of the earth.

3  They have poured out their blood like water

all around Jerusalem,

and there was ^gno one to bury them.

4  We have become ^ha taunt to our neighbors,

^hmocked and derided by those around us.

5  ⁱHow long, O Lord? Will you be angry ^jforever?

Will your ^kjealousy ^lburn like fire?

6  ^mPour out your anger on the nations

that ⁿdo not know you,

and on the kingdoms

that ^odo not call upon your name!

7  For they have devoured Jacob

and laid waste his habitation.

8  ^pDo not remember against us ^qour former iniquities;¹

let your compassion come speedily to meet us,

for we are ^rbrought very low.

9  ^sHelp us, O God of our salvation,

for the glory of your name;

deliver us, and ^tatone for our sins,

for your ^uname’s sake!

10  ^vWhy should the nations say,

“Where is their God?”

Let ^wthe avenging of the outpoured blood of your servants

be known among the nations before our eyes!

11  Let ^xthe groans of the prisoners come before you;

according to your great power, preserve those ^ydoomed to die!

12  Return ^zsevenfold into the ^alap of our neighbors

the ^btaunts with which they have taunted you, O Lord!

13  But we your people, the ^csheep of your pasture,

will ^dgive thanks to you forever;

from generation to generation we will recount your praise.

17  ^v“‘And in the last days it shall be, God declares,

^wthat I will pour out my Spirit ^xon all flesh,

and your sons and ^yyour daughters shall prophesy,

and your young men shall see visions,

and your old men shall dream dreams;

18  even on my male servants and female servants

in those days I will pour out my Spirit, and ^zthey shall prophesy.

19  And I will show wonders in the heavens above

and signs on the earth below,

blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke;

20  ^athe sun shall be turned to darkness

and the moon to blood,

before ^bthe day of the Lord comes, the great and magnificent day.

21  And it shall come to pass that ^ceveryone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.’

for he is at my right hand that I may not be shaken;

26  therefore my heart was glad, and my tongue rejoiced;

my flesh also will dwell ^oin hope.

27  For you will not abandon my soul to ^pHades,

^qor let your ^rHoly One ^ssee corruption.

28  You have made known to me the paths of life;

you will make me full of gladness with your presence.’
