16  Thus says the Lord:

“Stand by the roads, and look,

and ask for ^gthe ancient paths,

where the good way is; and walk in it,

^hand find rest for your souls.

But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’

15  ^fBut my people have forgotten me;

they make offerings to ^gfalse gods;

they made them stumble in their ways,

^hin the ancient roads,

and to walk into side roads,

ⁱnot the highway,
