3 and the spirit of the Egyptians within them will be emptied out,
and I will confound1 their gcounsel;
and they will inquire of the idols and the sorcerers,
and hthe mediums and the necromancers;
51 jHe has shown strength with his arm;
khe has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts;
34 But if you return to the city and say to Absalom, k‘I will be your servant, O king; as I have been your father’s servant in time past, so now I will be your servant,’ then you will defeat for me the counsel of Ahithophel.
14 And Absalom and all the men of Israel said, “The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel.” xFor the Lord had ordained1 to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, so that the Lord might bring harm upon Absalom.

15 When our enemies heard that it was known to us aand that God had frustrated their plan, we all returned to the wall, each to his work.
12 He ffrustrates the devices of the crafty,
so that their hands achieve no success.
10 Take counsel together, but it will come to nothing;
