8 And the Lord God planted a fgarden in Eden, in the east, and there he put the man whom he had formed.
3 For the Lord fcomforts Zion;
he comforts all her waste places
and makes her wilderness like gEden,
her desert like hthe garden of the Lord;
ijoy and gladness will be found in her,
thanksgiving and the voice of song.
13 You were in eEden, the garden of God;
fevery precious stone was your covering,
gsardius, topaz, and diamond,
beryl, onyx, and jasper,
sapphire,1 femerald, and carbuncle;
and crafted in gold were your settings
and your engravings.2
iOn the day that you were created
they were prepared.
3 pFire devours before them,
and behind them a flame burns.
The land is like qthe garden of Eden before them,
but rbehind them a desolate wilderness,
and nothing escapes them.
