Ezekiel 19:3–8

And she brought up one of her cubs;

zhe became a young lion,

aand he learned to catch prey;

he devoured men.

The nations heard about him;

bhe was caught in their pit,

cand they brought him with hooks

to the land of Egypt.

When she saw that she waited in vain,

that her hope was lost,

dshe took another of her cubs

and made him a young lion.

He prowled among the lions;

he became a young lion,

and he learned to catch prey;

he devoured men,

and seized1 their widows.

He laid waste their cities,

and the land was appalled and all who were in it

at the sound of his roaring.

eThen the nations set against him

from provinces on every side;

fthey spread their net over him;

bhe was taken in their pit.

32 iThe head of this image was of fine gold, jits chest and arms of silver, its middle and jthighs of bronze, 33 kits legs of iron, its feet partly of iron and partly of clay.

Daniel 2:37–40

37 You, O king, rthe king of kings, to whom sthe God of heaven thas given the kingdom, the power, and the might, and the glory, 38 and into whose hand he has given, wherever they dwell, the children of man, uthe beasts of the field, and the birds of the heavens, making you rule over them allyou are vthe head of gold. 39 wAnother kingdom inferior to you shall arise after you, and yet a third kingdom vof bronze, xwhich shall rule over all the earth. 40 And ythere shall be a fourth kingdom, strong as iron, because iron zbreaks to pieces and shatters all things. And like iron that crushes, it shall zbreak and crush all these.

Daniel 7:4–8

The first was like a lion and had eagles’ wings. Then as I looked its wings were plucked off, and it was lifted up from the ground and made to stand on two feet like a man, and the mind of a man was given to it. And behold, uanother beast, a second one, like a bear. It was raised up on one side. It had three ribs in its mouth between its teeth; and it was told, Arise, devour much flesh. After this I looked, and behold, another, like a vleopard, with four wings of a bird on its back. And the beast had four heads, and wdominion was given to it. After this I saw in the night visions, and behold, a fourth beast, xterrifying and dreadful and exceedingly strong. It had great iron teeth; xit devoured and broke in pieces xand stamped what was left with its feet. It was different from all the beasts that were before it, and yit had ten horns. I considered the horns, and behold, zthere came up among them another horn, a little one, zbefore which three of the first horns were plucked up by the roots. And behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of a man, and aa mouth speaking great things.

Zechariah 6:1–8

A Vision of Four Chariots

Again I lifted my eyes and saw, and behold, four chariots came out from between two mountains. And the mountains were mountains of mbronze. The first chariot had nred horses, the second oblack horses, the third pwhite horses, and the fourth chariot dappled horsesall of them strong.1 Then I answered and said to qthe angel who talked with me, What are these, my lord? And the angel answered and said to me, rThese are going out to the four winds of heaven,2 after spresenting themselves before tthe Lord of all the earth. The chariot with the black horses goes toward uthe north country, the white ones go after them, and the dappled ones go toward vthe south country. When the strong horses came out, they were impatient to go and wpatrol the earth. And he said, Go, wpatrol the earth. wSo they patrolled the earth. Then he cried to me, Behold, those who go toward uthe north country have set my Spirit at rest in uthe north country.
