Peter’s Sermon at Pentecost
14 But Peter, standing with the eleven, lifted up his voice and addressed them: “Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and give ear to my words. 15 For these people are not drunk, as you suppose, usince it is only the third hour of the day.1 16 But this is what was uttered through the prophet Joel:
17 v“‘And in the last days it shall be, God declares,
wthat I will pour out my Spirit xon all flesh,
and your sons and yyour daughters shall prophesy,
and your young men shall see visions,
and your old men shall dream dreams;
18 even on my male servants and female servants
in those days I will pour out my Spirit, and zthey shall prophesy.
19 And I will show wonders in the heavens above
and signs on the earth below,
blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke;
20 athe sun shall be turned to darkness
and the moon to blood,
before bthe day of the Lord comes, the great and magnificent day.
21 And it shall come to pass that ceveryone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.’
In the Shadow of Your Wings
A fPrayer of David.
1 Hear a just cause, O Lord; gattend to my cry!
Give ear to my prayer from lips free of deceit!
2 From your presence hlet my vindication come!
Let your eyes behold the right!
3 You have itried my heart, you have jvisited me by knight,
you have ltested me, and you will find nothing;
I have purposed that my mouth will not transgress.
4 With regard to the works of man, by the word of your lips
I have avoided the ways of the violent.
5 My steps have mheld fast to your paths;
my feet have not slipped.
6 I ncall upon you, for you will answer me, O God;
oincline your ear to me; hear my words.
7 pWondrously show1 your steadfast love,
O Savior of those who seek refuge
from qtheir adversaries at your right hand.
8 Keep me as rthe apple of your eye;
hide me in sthe shadow of your wings,
Let the Children Come to Me
15 oNow they were bringing even infants to him that he might touch them. And when the disciples saw it, they prebuked them. 16 But Jesus called them to him, saying, q“Let the children come to me, and rdo not hinder them, qfor to such belongs the kingdom of God. 17 sTruly, I say to you, whoever does not treceive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.”
